What is a Game Jam?

A game jam is an event where participants, often game developers, come together to create video games within a specified time frame.

These events promote collaboration, creativity, and the use of games to solve problems. Benefits of game jams include:

  • Innovation. Promote creative thinking and experimentation, using constraints to inspire unique game solutions.
  • Collaboration. Emphasize teamwork and collaboration to share ideas, skills, and resources.
  • Inclusivity. Ensure a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere to ensure everyone feels comfortable participating.
  • Mentoring. Provide mentors or resources to assist participants, especially those who might be new to using games to solve problems.
  • Recognition. Acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of participants.

Gaming, seen in past decades as purely an entertainment method for passing time, has the potential to prove to be a powerful problem-solving method for audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds.
